Columbus Bride

Columbus Bride, fall-winter 2013-14

One of the most challenging aspects of designing Columbus Bride is selecting the cover shot form the thousands of images submitted. There are so many amazing ones and so many different ways you can go with it. This shot, from one of my favorite photographers Adam Lowe, jumped out at me immediately, though not necessarily for the cover. I had kept it to run in the flower story. But when I was pulling in possible cover shots to show the editor, on a whim I pulled in this image and was struck by it’s simple elegance and wintery feel. Especially with the silver dress, it was very different that anything we had run before and I was thrilled when the editor loved it too! The reverse type over the dress really serves to reinforce the frosty and contemporary feel.
