Vintage, modern
In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Upper Arlington Labor Day Arts Festival, I decided to create a new logo to celebrate. Working with Allison Chapman of Igloo Letterpress, who was kind enough to give me access to their digital vault of vintage fonts, I used type styles that would have been in use 50 years ago, but in a design that is only possible using today’s technology. Igloo Letterpress printed a limited-edition poster of the logo, and we worked with our t-shirt printer to give the screen print a vintage, distressed look. I also used the fonts and design elements to create a secondary “50 years of art in UA” design that was used for an interactive grass mural at the Festival, among other places.
